Bring Light Items When Backpacking!

Have you ever wondered how heavy backpackers carry on their load?  I see experienced backpackers carry big loads of backpacks and as I see it, it must be really heavy!

But a few years ago, I had the experience to join a group of young people do backpacking.  To my surprise, there are items that are really lightweight!  For example, you can bring a lightweight sleeping bag which is compressible to about the size of a loaf of bread!  You can even carry with you a single person tent no less than 5 pounds in weight!

However, there may be items that you just can't reduce its weight. Water is one.  You really need water when backpacking.  However, you can bring a water filter that you can use once you run out of water!

Also, if you are backpacking and at the same time trying to join a hunting expedition, your hunting rifle may not be lightweight. The best binoculars for hunting may not always be lightweight. So, be wise in selecting and bringing your items for the right occasion when backpacking.

Baby Camper - Is That Possible?

Many people want to experience adventure especially on the outdoors. When you are still single with nothing much to worry about like family and kids, it is certainly easy to make quick decisions and say, "Let's go camping!"

But once you start to have your own family life, certain things have to be taken into consideration especially when you have a baby! Safety concerns will set in your mind.  Is it safe for you to bring along your baby when going outdoors?

Well, it depends on the kind of activity you are planning.  Definitely, you don't want to bring along your baby on a mountain  climbing expedition, would you? But perhaps going for a picnic at the beach, or maybe going camping may be fine on certain weather conditions.

Whether it is hot season or cold season, make sure to bring the appropriate gears for your little baby. Make sure you have the appropriate baby carrier, insect repellent, enough milk, the right clothing, diapers, and so on. Sometimes, you may have to ask yourself, "Should you bring a baby blanket?" How much water do you need to bring along? How many days can you go outdoors with your baby?

Well, just be prudent in your decision making. The big question is, how comfortable would you and your family be going outdoors with your baby? Are you prepared to be on a weekend camping with your little one? Do you have the right gears like the correct sleeping bag for cold season? Just a tip, not all sleeping bags are the same.  Sleeping bags for summer will not be your best choice for cold season. Will you be staying overnight or weekend on a cabin, a recreational vehicle, or a tent?

Yes, your baby can be a camper. But consider the pros and cons.

Sneezing In The Outdoors?

Well, there are people who cannot tolerate the outdoors especially during spring time. Why?
This is simply because some people may be very sensitive to pollens and dust. Just like my son, for years he has been taking all sorts of medicines for allergic and seasonal rhinitis. Yet, his condition ALWAYS recur.
Just lately, we were introduced to a juice drink called Xango. And after taking 2 ounces two times a day (after breakfast and after dinner at night), I have noticed that my son has not been sneezing lately, especially right now is spring time.
Now, my son can fully enjoy the great outdoors. Here's a link to a video testimonial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imyhc87Lv1k
If this juice drink worked for my son, perhaps it might work for others too. Unfortunately, Xango juice drink is not available in the stores. But it is available at www.healthdrinks.mymangosteen.com.

Benefits of Working in Pairs in Camping

Preparing for a camping trip is a tedious exercise. There are many responsibilities that come with planning this outdoor endeavor. To make your camping trip a success, it is very important that you exploit the advantages of having a buddy system. A buddy system works by dividing a large group into two’s and delegating responsibility to each pair. The pair can then divide the responsibility among them and remain accountable for the work output of the other.

The many duties of campers include preparing food, setting up the camping tents and making reservations as regards the campsite. Food preparation is easier if one member of a pair is in charge of buying the ingredients and the other works as the cook. The buddy system is not only effective in allocating tasks but is also a good means of utilizing the different skills and interests of each group member.

Setting up a camping tent is not an easy task. First, you have to clear the area and make sure that there are no twigs or stones in the way. Once you have done this you can now dig holes to hook the tent supports on the ground. This is definitely a tiring assignment so it will be better if the most physically active pair in the group is given charge of this duty. Two people working as a pair can easily set up the tents and may even coordinate with other pairs so that the job is finished faster and more effectively.

Picking a campsite where you will hold all the outdoor activities you have lined up is not a simple matter. The site can make or break your entire camping trip. It is advisable to pick a site that will meet the needs and preferences of the group members. If you belong to a large group, a pair given this assignment can talk to all the members and determine what will be the best choice for the entire troupe. This is oftentimes an arduous task so it is also beneficial for everyone if two people are assigned to work on this.

Finally, a buddy system helps the campers in terms of security and safety. It is never safe to go hiking in the woods alone. Having a partner for the entire camping trip who will be accountable for your whereabouts makes a big difference in ensuring the safety of all the participants. It will also be helpful to explore the vicinity with a buddy because if anything happens to you or if you suffer an injury, there will always be someone to help you out.

The Non-Negotiables of Camping Tents

A camping tent should be one of the first things that should be packed for a trip to the great outdoors. Inasmuch as sleeping under the stars can be a quaint thought, the practicality of bugs and temperature makes it more prudent to bring the necessary protection. Not all tents are built the same way – there are models and sizes to choose from. In fact, there are as many varieties as there are manufacturers who are willing to alter the design of this camping necessity.

But despite the differences, there are some qualities that all good camping tents should have. If you are someone who is deciding to purchase one, make sure that these features are included in your tent.

Above all else, the tent should be lightweight and easy to assemble. If they are too bulky and hard to carry, it may be difficult to bring them from one location to another. In addition to this, camping takes a lot of energy. Do not spend all your time and resources building the abode that there is not enough pep to get you through the rest of the activities planned. Before buying any kind of equipment, make sure to read the instructions given by the manufacturer. If it is something that appears simple enough, chances are that the tent is something that can be put to good use.

Another important feature of the camping tent is that the pole used to support the structure should be sturdy enough to withstand the elements. Nature can be very unpredictable as well as powerful. Most tents have a design that incorporates three poles to be able to endure rain and strong gusts of wind. The most common materials used in tent poles are graphite or aluminum. These are lightweight enough to be convenient to carry but provide enough durability for protection. When checking out the poles, it is a good idea to pay close attention to the joints where the ends would meet. They should fit securely together to increase the overall stability of the tent.

The chosen tent should have enough space to comfortably fit the people who will use it. Ideally, there should be some room left over to house additional equipment that should not be left outside. Ventilation should also be adequate to prevent feeling too warm or stale inside the tent. Tents should have mesh panels in the interior walls. These function to let air circulate into the space. The reason why people bring tents for camping trips is to provide comfort. If the tent does not accomplish this task, then something is fundamentally wrong and must be addressed.

Did you know that tents come in different sizes? There is the 2 person tent, 4 person tent, and more. One of the modern common shapes are the dome tents.
